The Awakening | Zodiac Academy Series written by Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti | A Book Review

Alright, here I am, sharing my thoughts on the first book The Awakening from Zodiac Academy series written by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. I'm a sucker for this type of book and I am always on the hunt for such books. Someone made a video of this book on TikTok and I was like I had to read it. So, I began reading the book and I fell into a rabbit hole of Magic Academy, hot assholes, and alternative Fae world. It felt like diving into a more mature version of Harry Potter. Needless to say, I absolutely loved this first installment.

MY REVIEW

This book takes place in a magical school called Zodiac Academy. The school is specifically for fae students, and it welcomes various types of fae to come, study, learn magic, and train there. In this world different types of Fae exist like; unicorns, Nymean lions, Dragons, and many many more creatures (this is called their order forms). I loved the concept of this series instantly. Well, a magical fantasy series set in a magical fantasy world where magic runs rampant what's not to like.

So there are two editions of the book one is told from the perspective of two twin sisters known as The Vega Twins. The book starts with these girls living in dire conditions, stealing to eat, and living in poverty. A professor from the Academy finds them, observes them, and then practically kidnaps them to take them to the Academy. The girls don't believe the professor but when he tells them they will be getting a fortune plus accommodations and all other perks the girls agree to go to the Academy. They thought what's the worst could happen. Well! the worst was about to happen.

Yes!!! There are houses; Four Houses based on elemental magic they possess. House Ignis, Terra, Aqua and Aer. Ignis house is for the fae who have fire magic, Terra is for earth magic, Aqua is for Water Magic and Aer is for Air Magic. Our girls are sorted into their respective houses (which I am not going to tell here obviously) and the chaos begins.

The other edition of the book is told from the perspective of the boys (which I read first). These Four boys are heads of their houses. They are also next in line to rule Solaria (Kingdom), the Fae kingdom. These four boys are referred to as the Celestial heirs throughout the book. So, after the girls are assorted in their houses, these four boys make their lives a living hell. They are like attention-seeking whores 😂😅 throughout the book. They hate the girls but they need their attention, they are attracted to the girls and it's a drama in the Academy.

And then there is this curious case of our hot vampire professor who is attracted to his student and he also hates her but wants her attention....this is one hell of a storyline. I am more invested in Orion and Darcy Storyline. AlsoOrion is the Asshole professor who just hates and loves his students. His class scenes made me laugh so hard that I could not control it. those scenes were the chef's kiss. You gotta read it to understand what I am saying.

On the whole, the book was amazingly written. I am already obsessed with the storyline and plot. I definitely recommend it.

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

Plated Prisoner Series | A series review (Spoiler Alert!!!)

Have you ever stumbled upon a series that not only captures your imagination but also challenges the norms of classic narratives? If you haven't yet experienced this literary masterpiece, be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of intrigue, deception, and personal growth. Embark with me on a journey through the twists and turns of these books, where the conventional story of King Midas and his golden touch takes an unexpected and captivating turn. However, Kennedy masterfully introduces a twist; King Midas, rather than possessing the golden touch, is revealed to be a fraud, capitalizing on the real power held by this beautiful character Auren. Auren, with her genuine golden touch, becomes the linchpin of the plot as ...

On Wings of Blood by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...

'The Never King' by Nikki St. Crowe | A Review

"The Never King" by  Nikki St. Crowe   is an incredibly absurd book. I mean, while reading it, I found myself perplexed, cringing, and wondering what on earth I was actually reading. These rollercoaster emotions I experienced throughout the book. The story revolves around Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, with Winnie, a member of the Darling family line, whose mother is clearly mentally unstable. Her mother's bizarre and neglectful behavior towards her is maddening. When Winnie turns 18, her mother's insanity escalates as she believes Peter Pan is coming to kidnap Winnie, and indeed, he does just that. He takes her to Neverland, where he inexplicably chains her to a bed and watches over her while she's unconscious. The frequent mention of Winnie being different from other Darlings without a clear explanation becomes rather tiresome. Meanwhile, Peter's shadow is lost, causing Neverland to wither slowly. So his main goal is to find his shadow and secure his power o...

Queen of Roses (Blood of Fae Trilogy) by Briar Boleyn | A Review into this Beautiful Fairytale Retelling

I just finished reading Queen of Roses. I found this book on Netgalley and requested to read and the author granted permission.  The book is written by Briar Boleyn . This is her TikTok . So it took some time for me to start reading the book series. The series consists of three books. I finished the first book so I thought let's write the review when it is fresh.  Let's dive into the synopsis. I will make sure to not spoil anything for you. The series is a retelling of the Legend of Arthur and Excalibur. the series focused on one character which is Morgan Pendrath; half sister of King Arthur; and also shown as half-Fae in the first book. King Arthur is the cruel king in this story, he also has a younger brother named Kaye is just a child who doesn't have a significant role in the first book but I am guessing in the coming books he is going to play some important part.  So, back to the story; Morgan is half Fey because her mother was full-blooded Fey and to hide her herit...
