BLURB

Their gods abandoned them.

Five thousand years after the Divine had disappeared, dreams no longer exist in the war-torn continent of Reveria—or so Elora Ausrine thought. However, when visions and disembodied voices warn her of a dark future ahead, she starts to question everything she knows about the Divine and their heritage.

As Elora attempts to make sense of her new abilities, hope of an escape from her Uncle’s harsh rule arises in the unlikely form of Prince Andras, her latest potential suitor and possible executioner, who has his own agenda. Thrust into a world of shadows and deceit, Elora is forced to choose between protecting her secret or facing her brewing feelings for the ruthless prince to survive.

As Andras seeks to gain Elora’s trust to uncover who is tearing apart The Veil between Helheim and the mortal world, he discovers there is more to Elora than meets the eye. Hiding a power feared by the Divine themselves, she could be the key to a prophecy that could change their world forever.

MY REVIEW
First of all, thank you to Tayla Demov for choosing me to read her book. This book is a gem and I cannot stop thinking about it. It was not a cozy read but I felt right at home in this high-stakes fantasy. It has very dark themes too so do check out trigger warnings before reading it. Now let's move to the review.

So this is the story of Elora; a prisoner in the castle. She is also the princess and her mother dies sometime ago and her brother Ronan is off to fight in a war. She had a friend Kieran which she hadn't seen in 10 years and she was alone, heavily guarded all the time. She takes lessons in the library and she only has one friend Sophia to keep company who also travels a lot with her parents. So it's a miserable existence. Here it gives major tangled vibes but darker.

The Prince of Tethran comes to the castle with his men on the Princess's birthday and the Evil king who also happens to be her uncle (father's brother) uses this event for his political gain. That's how the story starts. As it progressed further it got more and more interesting. There are major vibes of Throne of Glass book 1 with evil things happening in the castle that can't be explained.

I don't want to spoil but this book is amazing. If you loved TOG you gotta read this. The love triangle was amazing, the friendship bond between Sophia and Elora is beautiful and the banter is to die for. There are also other interesting elements like magical books and swords, dreams, the mysterious history of the Divines, and strange beautiful powers. I was holding my breath while reading this book like everything is connected and important and I need to remember it 😅. You should definitely read this beauty.

THE PARTS I LIKED

☙ The way Dante and the crew were arguing over leashing the book... it was hilarious. like it's not a book but a very annoying child who is also always up to no good
Everything was temporary but Elora running through the castle getting away from her guards while slipping and skitting was permanent
The artwork at the end of the book was beautiful
Kieran and Elora's first scene was 🔥

BEST WORDS

“Shush. A friend of mine is a friend of yours,” Elora hissed. “He is an utter dick, Elora. Have better standards.” Kieran…😂😂😂

For someone to look at you like they’re your equal, perhaps? That they understand you in your entirety? Not just love, but—something more.”...

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

The Bond That Burns by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I finally got myself to sit down to write this review for the second book of Bloodwing Academy series. Today is a good day because it's cloudy and windy with a chance of slight rain....and nothing puts my mood better than a chance of rain and wind. anyway let's get started!! BLURB At Bloodwing Academy, blood is currency, but a dragon's legacy is priceless–and as dangerous as fire. I thought surviving my first year in Bloodwing's deadly halls would be enough. I was wrong. I accidentally woke a dragon–a creature of myth, of death, of fire. Now every highblood house wants control over me and the dragon's legacy I carry. But here's the I have no control. I'm bluffing my way through every encounter, trying to keep everyone from realizing that I'm not the one pulling the dragon's strings. And then there's Blake Drakharrow. I thought he was on my side, that I might even be able to trust him. But he b...

On Wings of Blood by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...
