House Of The Raven (The Eldrystone #1) by Ingrid Seymour | A Review

Blog Post banner for house of the raven

What's Up, Readers!!

I am here today with another amazing book recommendation. House of the Raven by Ingrid Seymour. This story is pure magic—hidden identities, the thin veil between realms, and betrayal so intense you feel it in your bones. Rivers quest for vengeance and Valeria’s fierce spirit kept me hooked from start to finish. The world-building is lush, the tension is high, and the enemies-to-lovers dynamic is absolutely electric. ✨🔥 Let's start the review, shall we!!

BLURB

DANGER LURKS. READY YOURSELF.

They exiled him from his realm, and soon, the lone wanderer shall have his revenge.

For two decades, Rífíor of the Veilfallen has thought of nothing but vengeance against the man who trapped him in the human realm, making him a pariah.

Rífíor’s relentless pursuit leads him to uncover his enemy’s well-guarded hiding place, revealing an unexpected twist—the man now has a daughter, the key to what he desires most… a return to his fae home.

Valeria is a dreamer. Rífíor is a damaged male. And, through no fault of her own, she finds herself entangled in the throes of his hunger for retribution. But for him, there will be no distraction, even if she becomes a momentary detour, even if he breaks her heart.

What he fails to anticipate is Valeria’s fiery spirit, and the countless ways she will make him pay for stealing her innocence—not to mention the tempest of strength he’ll find impossible to bend to his will.

MY REVIEW
First of all, thank you to Books of Matches Media and Ingrid Seymour for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing beautiful story of Valeria. This book hooked me from the start. it won't be wrong if I say this is the book that I read in one sitting. The world-building is so immaculate that I felt right at home.

We have our main character Valeria a very Fiesty FMC who is brave but a little naive. I loved her instantly because she kind of reminded me of me when I was younger. She is naive and optimistic to the point of thinking that everyone is good. It was like a person who hadn't yet experienced the cruelty of this world. She is just amazing.

Next up we have Curveo; the animal sidekick. he is just so amazing with his own unique personality. The way he is bonded with Valeria is just beautiful. he behaves like a best friend with her. I wouldn't be surprised if we get to know that Curveo is something more than just a raven in the next books. Then we have Jago......OMG!!!! this person is hilariously amazing. I would want a best friend like him. He is Valeria's cousin and the bond these two share is 🧑‍🍳😙🤌.

These 3 wreak havoc in the kingdom whenever they are together. The loyalty they share......I was so happy reading about their bond. Ingrid is one talented writer in how she depicted the bond and loyalty these 3 share with each other. Another of my fav characters is Nana. She doesn't appear much in the book but whenever she appeared it was like warmth and safety and wholesomeness.

Valeria and Bastien were hilarious. I was cackling like a mad woman at 2:00 AAm when my family looked in my room what had gotten into me. Half of their interactions were Valeria's inner monologue and she referred to him as Guardia Corpse.....who doesn't have any expression or who doesn't breathe just stands there like a corpse.....you gotta read this I am telling you.

I kind of loved the betrayal that came at the end. I was expecting it and not expecting it...but it was a blow to my face lol 。°(°.◜ᯅ◝°)°。On the whole, this book is a 5-star read for me. If you’re a fan of Romantasy with a thick plot like Bastien's arms (the guard who has exceptionally thick arms 😅; you will get it when you read it😅), and unforgettable characters, House of Raven is a must-read!

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

On Wings of Blood by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...

Jenny Hickman's 'A Cursed Kiss': A Love Story Wrapped in Magic and Curses - Are You Up for the Ride?

I started reading this book because of the audiobook of the third in the Myths of Airren series written by Jenny Hickman . I got the audiobook from Netgalley and wanted to read the first book first. The Bond That Burns by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I finally got myself to sit down to write this review for the second book of Bloodwing Academy series. Today is a good day because it's cloudy and windy with a chance of slight rain....and nothing puts my mood better than a chance of rain and wind. anyway let's get started!! BLURB At Bloodwing Academy, blood is currency, but a dragon's legacy is priceless–and as dangerous as fire. I thought surviving my first year in Bloodwing's deadly halls would be enough. I was wrong. I accidentally woke a dragon–a creature of myth, of death, of fire. Now every highblood house wants control over me and the dragon's legacy I carry. But here's the I have no control. I'm bluffing my way through every encounter, trying to keep everyone from realizing that I'm not the one pulling the dragon's strings. And then there's Blake Drakharrow. I thought he was on my side, that I might even be able to trust him. But he b...

'The Never King' by Nikki St. Crowe | A Review

"The Never King" by  Nikki St. Crowe   is an incredibly absurd book. I mean, while reading it, I found myself perplexed, cringing, and wondering what on earth I was actually reading. These rollercoaster emotions I experienced throughout the book. The story revolves around Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, with Winnie, a member of the Darling family line, whose mother is clearly mentally unstable. Her mother's bizarre and neglectful behavior towards her is maddening. When Winnie turns 18, her mother's insanity escalates as she believes Peter Pan is coming to kidnap Winnie, and indeed, he does just that. He takes her to Neverland, where he inexplicably chains her to a bed and watches over her while she's unconscious. The frequent mention of Winnie being different from other Darlings without a clear explanation becomes rather tiresome. Meanwhile, Peter's shadow is lost, causing Neverland to wither slowly. So his main goal is to find his shadow and secure his power o...
