Lies Of The Wicked by B. L. Lewis || A Review

Lies of the wicked banner
Hi Readers!!!!
Welcome to Quills and Pages. I am reviewing B. L. Lewis's cozy witchy debut book Lies of the Wicked. It's the cozy months of the year and a perfect time to lose yourself in a good book. So let's start the review.

BLURB
"He’d left nothing but breath between their bodies. She tried to move, but he held her tighter. 'Stay.'”

The noise in Thessa's head is loud, but her forging hammer is louder.

Thessa Skiafer is a young witch and bladesmith, with a secret to keep. Living in a realm guarded by Elemental soldiers, makes this a very dangerous truth to hold. Perhaps that’s why she suffers with anxiety; she lives in a world she does not belong in.

When a demon uncovers her lies, he offers her sanctuary in return for joining his rebellion. Though she’s reluctant to fight, she’s quickly captivated by his magic.

After a brutal attack against him, her trust blooms alongside her feelings. Thessa learns the price of freedom, as well as love, and fighting for both will either kill or complete her.

MY REVIEW
First of all thank you for B.L Lewis for adding me to her arc team and giving me a chance to read her book baby. Now let's move to the review. So this is the story of Thessa who is waiting for her magic to show up and trying to find a place of her own after graduation. On the night of her 18th birthday her magic shows up and surprise surprise it was not something she expected.

She meets Soren and other characters and the plot thickens from there. I quite enjoyed how the story starts. It was giving all cozy and warm vibes. I loved the map...it was also another level of cozy. There were times in the book that got me to slack off...I cannot pinpoint if it was the slow progress of the story or what. Things got interesting after the middle half that's again piqued my interest and I devoured the book in a day.

Lies of the Wicked is the debut book of B. L. Lewis and she did a remarkable job. The book is not fulfilling in some aspects but of course, we can expect that from a debut. This book is great for those trying in the Romantasy genre or for someone looking for a cozy witchy light read. This was not a light read but it was not heavy on the plot either. So you are good to read it if you are just looking to relax and want a break from the heavy plot. I am so excited to read more of her work.

THE PARTS I LIKED
☙ There are some great twists, amazing friendship bonds, and cheeky banter.
☙ Oh I love the vibe, how the forest, the village, and everything was described. There is one scene stuck in my head and I went back to read it again and again........where Thessa was leaving her friends and walking on a lone path....😅

BEST WORDS

Soren: Why are you wearing that? Thessa: you don't like it? Soren: I can't think with your shoulders that bare. 😝😂…

You will not run around here like a feral feline, scaring children. 😂😂😂...

On Wings of Blood by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

The Awakening | Zodiac Academy Series written by Caroline Peckham and Suzanne Valenti | A Book Review

Alright, here I am, sharing my thoughts on the first book The Awakening from Zodiac Academy series written by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti . I decided to start reviewing this series as it falls under the 'enemies to lovers ' and 'bullies romance' genres, which are right up my alley. I'm a sucker for this type of book and I am always on the hunt for such books. Someone made a video of this book on TikTok and I was like I had to read it. So, I began reading the book and I fell into a rabbit hole of Magic Academy, hot assholes, and alternative Fae world. It felt like diving into a more mature version of Harry Potter. Needless to say, I absolutely loved this first installment.
