What's Up, Readers!!

Welcome to Quills and Pages and today, I am back with a Cinderella retelling. Reign of Cinders and Glass is book 1 of the Fated Fairytales series. This book is retold with so many amazing magical powers and supernatural elements that U was sucked into the story.

BLURB

In a world ruled by immortals, her only hope may lie in the heart of their darkest prince. When my sister Belle goes missing, I venture deep into the cursed woods to find her. Ruthless vampires rule over our kingdom, and I’m terrified she’s been murdered like so many others.

As I’m searching, I’m caught by the worst immortal of them Prince Cassius, Dark Lord of the Bloodvale. I barely escape with my life, and the memory of his cruel beauty haunts me. So does the thought that Belle might be in his castle.

When I join the mortal resistance, I get the chance to infiltrate his stronghold. I’ll find Belle and fight the vampires from within. It’s not easy. I’m worked to the bone by a pair of wicked sisters and danger abounds, but the secrets I discover are worth it.

The castle is filled with magic…and so am I.

I’ll have to keep my mission and power hidden if I want to survive, but the prince’s stormy gaze follows me everywhere. When he chooses me as his personal servant, can I hide the truth? Or will the magnetic pull between us drag me to my doom?

MY REVIEW
First of all, thank you to Book of Matches Media and authors @veronicadouglasauthor and @linseyhallauthor for allowing me to read this amazing advanced reader copy. The book cover is beautiful screaming it's a Cinderella retelling. To be honest, Cinderella is my least favorite fairytale but I was so intrigued with this book cover, the map art, and the blurb that I didn't even think twice and applied for the tour and arc review. I would read anything involving vampires.....vampires are 👨‍🍳😘🤌🏻.

To say this book did not disappoint would be an understatement. It went beyond my expectations. The authors did a very clever job writing a beautiful story adding the elements of a fairytale in perfect places. The way sisters are portrayed and the talking animal thing and this whole thing is happening in a cursed and beautiful nightmarish place of Bloodvale........argh.....everything was perfect.

This is one of those stories that are warm and give you a cozy feeling with a hint of danger and thrill. I loved every second of it. The way our broody vampire prince was obsessed with our Ella who is naive and fierce and an amazing character. There is another best part of the story.......the animals and how they communicated with Ella. each has their own personalities and it was so fun reading their interactions.

Reign of Cinders and glass edit by quills and pages

The two wicked Vampire sisters were the worst vampires in the land.....lol....they were ruthless, cunning, and impatient. I love how the wicked sister thing was put into place seamlessly in the story. Also, I admire the intrigue and slow burn of the romance. Ella and Cassius were on opposite sides of the whole scenario and still found a way to protect each other.

On the whole, the book is a 5-star read. It was written beautifully. Loved the details of the castle, and Bloodvale in general. The exploration of the castle was 🤌🤌. The spying thing and secrets after secrets and the whole myth of magic disappearing.....highly recommend this book.

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

On Wings of Blood by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...

Plated Prisoner Series | A series review (Spoiler Alert!!!)

Have you ever stumbled upon a series that not only captures your imagination but also challenges the norms of classic narratives? Recently, I had the privilege of delving into the spellbinding world of the Plated Prisoner series, written by Raven Kennedy. If you haven't yet experienced this literary masterpiece, be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of intrigue, deception, and personal growth. Embark with me on a journey through the twists and turns of these books, where the conventional story of King Midas and his golden touch takes an unexpected and captivating turn. A Twist on a Classic Tale The foundation of the Plated Prisoner series rests upon the iconic figure of King Midas and his fabled golden touch. However, Kennedy masterfully introduces a twist; King Midas, rather than possessing the golden touch, is revealed to be a fraud, capitalizing on the real power held by this beautiful character Auren. Auren, with her genuine golden touch, becomes the linchpin of the plot as ...

'The Never King' by Nikki St. Crowe | A Review

"The Never King" by  Nikki St. Crowe   is an incredibly absurd book. I mean, while reading it, I found myself perplexed, cringing, and wondering what on earth I was actually reading. These rollercoaster emotions I experienced throughout the book. The story revolves around Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, with Winnie, a member of the Darling family line, whose mother is clearly mentally unstable. Her mother's bizarre and neglectful behavior towards her is maddening. When Winnie turns 18, her mother's insanity escalates as she believes Peter Pan is coming to kidnap Winnie, and indeed, he does just that. He takes her to Neverland, where he inexplicably chains her to a bed and watches over her while she's unconscious. The frequent mention of Winnie being different from other Darlings without a clear explanation becomes rather tiresome. Meanwhile, Peter's shadow is lost, causing Neverland to wither slowly. So his main goal is to find his shadow and secure his power o...
