Alpha's Claim Book 1 and 2 by Addison Cain | A Review

What's Up, Readers!!

Welcome to Quills and Pages. Today I am reviewing two books in the series....Alpha's Claim by Addison Cain.....a friend recommended this series to me and I was like let's do it.....it would be great to read something a little different.

BLURB

Every bit as ruthless as his reputation suggests…

Shepherd ravages both Claire and her conquered city, refusing to let either slip through his fingers.

He steals Claire's innocence and future by forcing a pair-bond on the rare, unwilling Omega female.

Violent, calculating, and incapable of remorse, he demands his new mate's adoration. Her attention. Her body.

GENRE
Paranormal Dark Romance

TROPES
☙ Enemies to Enemies
☙ Anti-hero
☙ Slow-Burn (kinda)
☙ Reluctant Allies (to help with the FMC's heat cycle 😅)
☙ Forced Proximity
☙ Political Conflicts
☙ Major trigger Warnings ( and I am serious)
☙ She wants him and she hates it
☙ Reluctant FMC

MY REVIEW
I didn't know what I was getting into when I started reading but I have to say I got sucked into the story right away.....she is an Omega in heat and she is surrounded by ruthless, scary and cruel alphas until he smells her and claims her just like that....I haven't read any book with the concept of Alpha and Omega...I thought this distinction was usually used in werewolf books, but here, all of these are humans.

The world they live in is divided into groups Alpha, Omega, and Beta.....Alph are like the superiors, dominant people. Omegas are somewhat weak people with recurring heat cycles, which render them vulnerable in society....they are usually claimed by Alphas.....and in most cases it happens with no consent. Betas are usually free people; they are not bound by any kind of urges, so they are free to do whatever they want. I like this concept.

Some serious triggering situations are happening in the book, so please go through TRIGGER WARNINGS before reading this. Book 1 ends in a cliffhanger, so I started book 2 right away. Both are good reads and I would recommend them if you are a dark romance reader.

MY RATING
Overall: ★★★ | 3 Stars

Plot: ★★| 4 Stars

Romance: no romance happening!!

Characters:★★★ | 4 Stars

Pacing: | 5 stars

Mystery: | 5 star

Banter: | 5 star

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶🌶 | Level 4

Book Cover: | 1 star (because I don't like these types of covers 😅)

THE BEST PART
☙ I like it when they are a little mean......the MMc wasn't mean in these books, but FMC thinks he is.....so I guess I enjoyed the situation happening between these 2 lol
☙The world-building was really great

THE WORST PARTS
☙ The girl (FMC) is not in her right state of mind....she doesn't try to understand and take control of the situation. She just became a victim easily (which she is not, but she loves to pretend she is)

Happy Reading!!

Stalk me!!

On Wings of Blood by Briar Boleyn | A Review

What's Up, Readers!! Welcome to Quills and Pages. I just finished On Wings of Blood arc....and now I am here to write the review. the book is written by Briar Boleyn and Thank you to Netgally and the author for this arc. iSo, let's start the review BLURB I didn't sign up for this. A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment. I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games. But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like h...

A Critical Lens on 'Hunting Adeline' by H.D. Carlton: Exploring the Disturbing Themes | A Review

I kept delaying writing the review because I had to remember it and didn't want to do that. This 2nd book of Cat and Mouse duet is the story of a human trafficking survivor. This book is a huge  TRIGGER WARNING . Kindly proceed with caution. I even got traumatized after reading it. So to explain the synopsis; Adeline (the main character) got kidnapped at the end of the first book and sold to some people who groomed her for some very rich and powerful clients.  Almost half of the book is based on Adeline surviving the worst situations possible for a woman. Adeline had one advantage someone was fervently searching for her, and eventually, Zade managed to rescue her after four agonizing months. The scene when Zade finds her and she just could not believe it. She crumbled to her knees thinking she was hallucinating. After Zade brings her home she struggles so hard to process her trauma. She learns to fight to take control of her life. She gets close to her mother. She hates h...

Tiktok made me read it | My Fault | Culpa Mia (Culpable 1)

This line is fire... How did I fall? Easy. He turned my world upside down My Fault is the book I found out from TikTok. I watched the movie first and then I thought why not give it a read. This review aims to provide insight into the book and the movie adaptation. I will analyze the plot, characters, and writing style, and give an overall rating. It will assist you in deciding whether to indulge in the book the movie or both. "My Fault" written by Mercedes Ron is a captivating book that tells the story of a love-hate relationship between Noah and Nick. This book has been adapted into a movie that has caught the attention of many romance enthusiasts.  I was surprised to find out that the book is very well written as many books that go viral on TikTok are not really well written. there were no plot holes, no dragging, simple and steady storyline.  The story centers around Noah and Nick who are step-siblings and both are grappling with personal demons. Noah is dealing ...
